The origins of the Banbury Town Cup are unknown but the cup is inscribed Tadmarton Heath Golf Cup 1925. It is an 18-hole medal competition open to members and non-members.
It was first played for in 1925 during the two-day Autumn Open meeting held in October and was advertised as the Banbury Town Challenge Cup.
Format: Individual Open stroke play (qualifying) over 18 holes from black tees with full handicap.
Divisions: Single division up to 18 handicap, four nett prizes, one scratch, no player to take more than one prize.
Starting: Drawn in g
roups of three from the 1st tee only. Eligibility: Open competition, 18 years and over, CONGU ‘c’ handicap only, maximum 18. Higher handicaps may enter but play off the limit, if oversubscribed the ballot will be on lower handicaps NOTE: there is no longer a residency criteria for this competition.
